Mediterranean 2025
We recently completed a 10-day Mediterranean cruise on Virgin Voyages that took us to 7 different port cities. This was our second sailing on a Virgin Voyages ship. Our first trip in January of 2024 was a 5-day tour of the Caribbean out of Miami. We enjoyed it so much that we were eager to sail again. We selected this Mediterranean cruise because it was like a sampling buffet of sites that we had always wanted to see. Our itinerary included stops in Barcelona, Malaga, Cadiz, Casablanca, Valencia, Mallorca and Ibiza. Many of these places are far-flung and challenging to get to. Visiting them on a cruise gave us a chance to sample them to see if we wanted to return one day. Granted, stopping in a port city for just one day doesn’t give you a complete experience of that place, but it does help you to evaluate if you would like to spend even more time in that city in the future.
We also signed up for an excursion while we were in Casablanca to visit the legendary city of Marrakech. That makes 8 cities, 2 countries and 2 continents in 10 days! That’s a lot of traveling in a compressed amount of time, and a cruise is the only venue that can accomplish that - all without having to repack!
We’ve shot a lot of videos of each of these locations so you can decide which are your favorites and which have piqued your interest to travel there. We also can’t compliment enough the crew of our Virgin Voyage’s ship Scarlet Lady. They were always warm and friendly; in fact, our cabin steward Amri was our attendant on our first Caribbean cruise and out of all the hundreds of “sailors” he assisted, he remembered us - hopefully for good reasons!
All-in-all, we had a wonderful experience and if you have never cruised before, we encourage you to consider it. We never thought we would be “cruisers” in the past, but sometimes it’s really nice to be pampered and carried from location to location without having to schlep your luggage, catch the train or stand in airport security lines. And of course, once you add in fabulous meals and entertainment set against Mediterranean sunrises and sunsets, well, we think you get the picture. Mind you, none of the cruises we have taken have been complimentary or discounted. We pay all our own expenses so we can give you our complete and honest opinion.
